July 1, 2003
Jeff, Danyelle & Lily drove down from Cheboygan in northern MI.
Chris & Chuck flew in from Olympia, WA

The cousins, Jeff, Chris, Megan & Kevin had not seen each other in almost 15 years!
So, the Neuman/Holmes clan was all together once again, at last
.
..
Megan's bird "Bongo" was a big hit with Danyelle & Lily.
...
..
Buzz & Megan, Sandy & Dan and Kevin, Chuck & Chris, Jeff & Danyelle and I
all enjoyed sitting around finding out about each other.
..
Lily Neuman was a star and everyone enjoyed her spark.
As you can see, the pool in the backyard was her very favorite place to be!

July 2, 2003
After a lazy morning, we "out-of-towner's" piled into the Holmes's van and headed out.

First stop.....Roxy Olive Burger!
Mmmmmm
We stopped at the cemetery to pay respect to the Neuman/LoPresti kin.

Then we drove to Coloma Rd. to show Chuck the house he grew up in.
Driving through Riverside was a "trip back in time" for him, as he hadn't been back in over 25 years.
By this time, Lily needed to get out of the car & use up some of her rambunctous energy
so we played at Riverside Park for a while.
..
Lily played, others stretched out & relaxed while they could.

..

Next, Fikes Rd. to visit Sadie's dear friend Nancy Sineni & her brother Tony.

Last stop for that busy day was Lake Michigan.

Nothing like a good swim....clothes & all!

Jeff, Danyelle & Lily stayed with us at Oronoko Lakes during their stay here.
Lily & I walked around the lake gathering wild flowers & looking at the geese swimming together in families.

....

July 3, 2003
Next day we visited cousins Judy & Bob Hall, cousin MaryAnn, Aunt Clara & Aunt Bonnie
at the Hall's residence on Paw Paw Lake

(left-right) Judy, Aunt Clara, Aunt Bonnie, Bob & Dan

After a good chat, Bob asked if we wanted to go for a boat ride. Of course we did!
Chuck & Chris were the first in line & waited as everyone began to pile in.
As predicted, Dan was the last one ready and in the boat.

Off we went with Clara & Bonnie on the balcony to see us off.

MaryAnne & her daughter with a friend and Bob at the helm.

After the tour of the lake, Aunt Clara presented her home-made cake. Delicious & beautiful!

July 3, 2003
Megan & JD's rehearsal.

No doubt about it.

They were ready.
They were excited.
They were happy!

After the rehearsal, we had a wonderful meal and spent some time getting to know JD's family.
As a surprise, Megan had transformed her parents' old wedding album into a gorgeous well preserved memory.
With emotional tears, Megan presented them with the completed book of memories.
...
The three siblings were so excited to be together again for such a happy occasion.

Happy Fourth of July 2003 !
The Holmes Family prepared a wonderful Bar-B-Q in their backyard.

Aunt Barb made festive desserts & Kevin enjoyed creating his very 1st watermelon basket!.....

The groom John Donald (JD) Boesch, Grandma Shirley, Grandma Alida & mother of the groom, Holly
enjoying the beautiful day with family and friends.

Holly's twin sister, Carol. Aunt Bonnie Neuman with her son David. JD and Chris Neuman.
..
Around the pool: Chris, Becca, Jonathan, Renee, Amy, Angie, Megan & Marie.
Father of the groom, John Allen Boesch & grandfather of the groom, John Wallace Boesch.
Friends Roger Brown & Kathy Smith had a hot job - taking care of the B-B-Q grilling.

Megan's "Host Family" came all the way from South Africa.
Amy, Jonathan, John & Liz Lansdell. Reverend John participated in the wedding ceremony.

Marie, Eric & Betty Mallen, Rich Hays, Tara & Taylor visiting around the table.

Later that evening, a group of us went to Silver Beach to watch the fireworks display.

After theSilver Beach fireworks,
we came back to the Holme's for
our own display in the back yard.

While we played,
Liz was busy making the final
alterations to Megan's veil.

July 6, 2003
Uncle Pat & Aunt Lou picked us up in one of his limos and we enjoyed
an exquisite lunch at nearby Tabor Hill Winery & Restaurant

It was my very first limo ride! What fun....
..

..

Later that afternoon we went to visit Ron & Madeline at the KOA campground
which was built right across the street from where Dan & Chuck grew up.

....

July 8, 2003
Time to say "good-bye" to Chuck & Christopher. What a wonderful visit we all had.
...

July 12, 2003 The Art Show St. Joseph, MI
....
Some interesting artistic creations. We wished Pat Korch's artwork was there.

After the Art Show we drove south to New Buffalo. A quaint & quiet beach town.

..

....

July 14, 2003
We had a wonderful visit with Aunt Clara, cousin Jim & his wife Judy.
What a beautiful view
looking at the St.Joseph River
right from her living room!

July 15, 2003

Jim Neuman came to take a look at the motor home.
While there, Sandy came by and in her excitement forgot to put her van in park......
while we were talking, it took off & headed for the lake, oh no!

.
Thankfully, a tree stopped it from going right into the lake and....
luckily, Jim had a tow rope and a truck to pull it back up to safety.

Below right Sandy is saying "Thank you God for saving my van"!

July 17, 2003
The Venetian Festival, St. Joseph, MI
Can you believe this? Charmin offered the ultimate in "Porta-Potties
".
Each room is air conditioned, well lit with mirrors, music, scented soaps & lotions, choice of toilet paper,
assorted air scents
& an attendant to clean up after each use!

July 18 - 26, 2003
Holiday Rambler 50th Anniversary Rally
Berrien Springs, MI
.
There were over 1300 coaches gathered in the Fairgrounds, most with electric & water hook-ups!
Below is an aerial view of part of the fairgrounds and I've pointed out where we were.

One day Dan & I went out for lunch and happened upon a cousin of Aunt Clara right outside the restaurant!
Lil & Rich Hasse also own a Holiday Rambler & are on the road full time.

Shake, rattle & roll! Time to make ice cream using two different sized coffee cans.

.

We discovered tiny little kitties under our motor home the first official day of the rally.
Unable to ignore their tiny cries, I crawled under the coach to discover 4 kittens abandoned by their Mom.
Next day I sat outside the hospitality center and tried to find a home for them.
Thankfully, each kitty did find a good home after a couple of days. Dan was quite happy that I didn't keep one!

While at the rally, we went to our very first 400 Club meeting for full time RVer's.
Met some wonderful people, joined the group and we hope to see them on & off as we travel.

Monday July 28, 2003
Aunt Bonnie had us over for lunch and a look at some old family pictures identifying relatives Dan couldn't.
Then she toured us to three cemeteries where family is buried.

Sadly, her husband John passed away in March 2002, shortly after his brother Harold's death in December 2001.
But, both Aunt Bonnie & Aunt Clara are doing well and visit or chat with each
other often.
.......

Before leaving the area, we got together with Lou & Pat so I could copy down some of Dan's favorite recipes
from the Italian side of the family. She prepared quite a spread of delicious food and I can see why
Dan wanted me to learn how to make them! Hopefully, I can do as good of a job making it as Aunt Lou does.
