November 2003 Travel Log
 |
November
1, 2003
Mrytle Beach, SC
We stopped overnight at Briarcliff RV Resort where Dan met up with some
other 400 Club "full-timer's"
for a 4 o'clock meeting. It's a favorite place in the winter for many.
We did comment that this town has got to have the largest
selection of
miniature golf courses that we have ever seen (they were everywhere)!

Nov. 5-8, 2003
The 1st Annual "MotoSat" Rally
Blue lights all over! It was incredible to see and to
be around these hundreds of "Techies".
No question, Dan was in his element!
George & Charlene Campbell - "Olde World Musik"
gave an incredible performance with an unusual hobby. |

By day, we were seeing rainbows. By
night, a full moon and the awesome blue lights.

Nov. 8, 2003
Northport, FL
We stopped in to visit Eric & Michelle Farnsworth and their two boys
Christian & Cameron.
Eric made a delicious & beautiful dinner and we got to meet Michelle's
Mom, Dad and some of her siblings.

Then
we were off to visit Clem & Eileen Dunkley.
Nov. 11, 2003
New Port Richey, FL
Nestled in Suncoast RV Park just a few miles from the Dunkley
residence. |
| |
 |
|
On
the 13th we packed a lunch, and right in their backyard, we climbed into
Clem's boat and
went out through the canals into the Gulf. After an exhilerating ride,
we anchored near a sandbar.

This sandbar was out in the middle of the ocean. A beautiful
& serene spot..
|
We
looked for shells.
 |
 |
And
watched the birds.
 |
Although
it has been at least 30 years since
I'd last seen my cousins in NH, kin always feel so close.
Thank you Clem & Eileen for a wonderful visit.

November 14-17, 2003
Homosassa Springs, FL
Ruth & Dan Oblinger and Mim Currier
We
fit in the Oblinger driveway with no problems. Dan & Dan hit it off
right from the start.
Cousins Ruth, Mim & I enjoyed a day chatting as we walked around the
flea market & local thrift shops!

Carrie Mim Ruth
Dan A
ceremonial "flag burning" in the backyard. Dan
at work in his wood-working shop.

We had a great day with Mim as she toured us around the area. She brought
us to this
great Archaeological Site where we saw a canoe being made by re-enacting
the burning out of a canoe and
several "steeles" which are standing stones shaped and carved
by man with pictograms and/or ideograms.
The one on the right below was erected about A.D. 440. Long, long time
ago! |

Sunday
Nov. 16, 2003
What an awesome place Homosassa Springs Wildlife Park was.
Aside from the hippo, all the wildlife in the park is native to this area.

Nov. 19, 2003
Lillian, AL
Uncle Sherward &Aunt Mary Farnsworth's winter home. |

|
 |
One
morning, Mary & I enjoyed an exercise class in the warm
pool!
We were treated to dinner at one of their favorite restaurants
McGuire's in Pensacola. Delicious Prime Rib! |

 |

November 24-26, 2003
New Orleans, LA
Sights
of the city and sunset over the bridge.
Nina
& Brad were getting ready for tomorrow's Thanksgiving feast. The first
one they'd ever cooked!
Nina told me how surprised Tara would be to see her actually "cooking".

Brad

Isn't this a cute way to
protect your table from
scratching the floor? |

Jean LaFitte National Historical Park and Preserve.
Nina recommended taking the walking tour of this wonderful park....it was
a wonderful place.
|
True
Louisiana Bayou, for sure.

Nov. 29, 2003
Bryan, TX
How wonderful to see Jerod again! He's happy and working with an oil company
trying to save money to go to school. Our Jeep needed some work, so he
offered to get it fixed up!
For two days he & Dan worked together getting it back in shape. Thank
you JB!
