The Nomadic Neuman's
Travel Log
Oct. 2, 2003
Shelburne, VT
Finally had an opportunity to see Greg's impressive train set-up.
...
When Ellen got home, we went to a nearby apple orchard.
What fun we had wandering through the rows trying to identify each kind.
Picking them and...... eating them!

Next we enjoyed a tour of the famous Vermont Teddy Bear Factory.
...
We visited the beautiful grounds at Shelburne Farms, enjoying a gorgeous Vermont sunset.
Thank you Greg & Ellen for a grand tour, a delicious dinner and a wonderful visit.

Oct. 3, 2003
"Leaf Peepin Tour" with Jon & Allison.
Incredible views! These pictures don't do justice to the beauty we saw.

Memories of the fun we had swimming here at the floating filled my mind.

We visited the Memorial dedicated to the men & boys who served in WWII,
remembering Owen who was the only boy from town to lose his life.

Then we brought some flowers and a prayer to Aunt Elaine & Uncle Howard.

The country drive was filled with classic VT pastoral scenes and
of course, I had to purchase some VT. maple syrup from a local resident. Mmmm.

While enjoying the foliage, we played a fun game of miniature golf.
... ...
We ended the evening having a wonderful dinner and meeting Adam for the first time ever.
Still can't believe it took 24 years to finally meet him!

Thanks Jon & Allison for a wonderful day.
Oct. 4, 2003
Moretown, VT

Jim & Gretchen's beautiful gardens, even this late in the season.

Their log cabin fits right in to the landscape and is very warm & inviting inside.
Thank you Jim & Gretchen for a delicious dinner & a great visit.

"The Beehive"
E. Brookfield, VT.
Uncle Sherward was building an addition as you can see below.
He & the boys cut pine & spruce from the surrounding forests. Then a local man brought
the equipment to make boards out of the logs. Quite an operation, and a lot of work!
But, look at the pile of lumber he got after a hard day's work.....more than enough
to line the walls & ceiling inside the new room and to side the outside.

...

Dan went to view the hi-tech milking operation down the mountain at Sprague Dairy.
It's certainly a lot different from my memories visiting Granda Leonard's barn years ago.

Oct 7-10, 2003
Enfield, NH
Miraculously after 25 years, I located my best friend in high school,
Janine (Fournier) Brown living in Enfield, NH just south of White River Junction.
It was so incredible to feel that loving connection even after all these years .
Below is she & husband Wally Brown's Auto Shop, with a warm welcome to Leanne!

Wally, Janine getting advice from Dan.          Janine & Leanne enjoyed "catching up" after all these years.

Having a delicious & fun dinner at their favorite Japanese Restaurant with the family.
Janine's son, Ryan, and his family loved watching the "flying food & chop-chop chef".
...
Janine and her niece, Julia .

Visiting Janine's Mom at Lake Winnipisawki brought back many fun summer-time memories.

Oct. 10-12, 2003
Dracut, MA
We were warmly welcomed at Debi & Elliot's, found another RV-friendly driveway and...
enjoyed a few days in the area visiting, shopping and seeing the foliage.

Debi & Elliot
......Dotty in the dining room watering the plants.....Dawn playing with the kitty.
....
...
We took a very interesting Merrimac River Canal Tour learning of their place in New England's history.
...

Being offered wild apples by the classic New England Puritans before getting back on the trolley.
... ..

I even got to go inside the house I grew up in on Howard St. in Lawrence, MA.....
the kitchen still had the cabinets built by my Dad!

...

For 30 minutes early Monday morning we finally had a chance to visit with Elliot.
He's so busy playing tuba in the Shriner's parades this time of year.
Debi had re-done her "horse room" and it looked great filled with her collection.
...

Thanks Debi, Elliot, Dotty & Dawn for a wonderful visit and your gracious hospitality!

Oct. 13-16, 2003
Medway, MA
The Tyrrell Family

We arrived at the Tyrrell's all of us hoping that we could park in their back lot and be close.
But, our coach was just too big to maneuver back there, although it was a beautiful spot!
We were able to find a campground just a few miles down the road though, and enjoyed visiting for a few days.
We did miss seeing Brad as he was attending college at the time.

One day we had an enjoyable drive to the tip of Cape Cod stopping to see a "cranberry bog",
the Thorton Burgess Museum and the Pilgrim Monument in Provincetown.

New York City
Oct. 23, 2003

It was a cold & stormy day in NYC, but we managed to see quite a bit regardless.
To get around the city, we experienced the train, the subway & the bus.
We also took a boat ride out to The Statue of Liberty and saw Ellis Island on the way.
It was "wall to wall" people & hundreds of taxis everywhere!

"Ground Zero" was chilling to see, with the missing twin towers leaving a huge hole in the ground.

October 25-28, 2003
Clarksville, Maryland

How special to be able to visit with the entire Snyder Family!
Lou & Bill's home is elegant, filled with wonderful hand-made baskets and a great pet, PD.

We were really impressed with the community center.
A huge building with banquet halls, movie rooms, sitting areas, a full gym & a huge pool..

Dan & Bill enjoyed chatting as did Lou & I!

We spent one day touring Washington DC, seeing the
White House
Washington Monument & the Lincoln Center.

The Jefferson Memorial and the Vietnam War Memorial Wall.

Then that evening we enjoyed a delicious dinner while visiting with the Morgan Snyder Family.
