2 Bar Lazy H RV Park. Dan's completing the taxes. Hurray!

One evening,
this rodeo horseman spent the night with his 2 hard-working horses.
They were happy to get out of the trailer and wander around grazing in
the acres behind the park.
Then we fed them some apples. They sure loved that and even licked the
bowl Dan was holding! |

We had a marvelous
thunder storm this afternoon and I was lucky enough to catch a rainbow
before it disappeared. Then the sunset was gorgeous.

Whitehall, MT
A neat old town where we found a wonderful boon-docking spot for the night.
There were 20 Lewis & Clark Trail murals beautifully painted on the
old brick buildings.

We headed south on Hwy 55 to discover Montana's "Ghost Towns".
August 8, 2004
Nevada City, MT
This is the first of 4 ghost towns we stopped at.
|

Site of trial
and hanging of George Ives, Dec 21, 1863...a catalyst for the formation
of the vigilantes.
Wonderful pipe
organ music centers and remember these 5 cent "turn the handle"
picture shows?
Several types of wooden sided trains
surrounded the train station.
After touring
the ghost town we discovered Ruby Lake Reservoir.....another awesome boon-docking
spot!

August 9, 2004
"Ghost
Towns" Laurin, Alder, Nevada City & Virginia City MT
Next day, we
took the Jeep, found some dirt roads and discovered the 4 old ghost towns
hidden treasures!
Discovering
these sites rather than walking around the touristy main streets was so
much more fun.

Howlin' Mad Moon Resort Cameron,
MT
A beautiful
area about 34 miles from West Yellowstone with the Rocky Mts. and white
water rivers all around.

Below appeared
to be a good fishing spot, and these swallows had nests in every overhead
beam junction.
The babies
were being fed regulaly even as we stood watching.
Historic
Quake Lake
The devastating earthquake hit August 17, 1959
Below, the
huge dolomite boulder on the right was actually pushed on top of the rock
slide over
to the other side of the mountain pass. The slide filled the river bed,
forming what is known as "Quake Lake".
So, here we
are at this beautiful spot, taking care of business, bird watching &
star gazing
the Big Montana Sky for a few days before heading to Idaho City to pick
up Glenda on 8/17/04.

August 16-25, 2004
Lionshead RV Park W. Yellowstone,
MT
We went for
our evening walk when I spotted these pretty pictures waiting for my camera!

Yellowstone
National Park
August 18-23, 2004
I
can't possibly even begin to share with everyone how wonderful this National
Park is.
But, here are a few pictures of some of the awesome sights to see.
Having Glenda here to share this experience made our week so much more
special.

Since I have so many wonderful photos of
our Yellowstone week,
I've made a separate web page for it.
below
to experience our exciting journey.

August
24-29, 2004
We took Glenda to the airport for her return to San Diego and found a
beautiful spot along the banks of the Yellowstone in Big Timber, MT. Here
we recuperated from a busy week and got caught up on business.
This was a MT Fishing & Hunting Access
Site which allows free camping for up to 7 nights!

The glow of sunset, the morning fishermen and the glow of the MT moonlight.

Glendive,
MT

We were so
impressed with this small town's museum. Even some big cities don't have
such a historical display!
Fayette Miller,
the on-site historian, was so interesting and we enjoyed the knowledge
she shared.
Look at this
"Duart permanent wave machine"! Can you imagine being hooked
up to that?
This replica
of a early 1900 schoolroom complete with two wonderful photos of Washhington
& Lincoln.
The 1920's motorhome (sheep wagon).......we've come a long way baby!
Time to head to North
Dakota. |
