The Nomadic Neuman's
December 2005

Dec. 3, 2005
Now I'm back in Michigan with Sandy & Buzz. Brrrrrrrrrr. It's cold & snowy.
Next week we head south to warmer weather
and a couple of months in Lillian Alabama with Uncle Sherward & Aunt Mary.

We had to get Dan's favorite pizza as a boy at DiMaggio's. of course.

Then we stopped in to visit one of Sadie's best friends from childhood Nancy and her brother.
Tony Sineni in Coloma, MI. Fun to remember the old days when Dan was little.

Dec 7, 2005
The weather has turned bitter cold, our water pipes are freezing, we're out of propane gas!
We visited with family today: Had a wonderful visit & were treated to lunch
with Dan's Aunt Clara & Aunt Bonnie.

Then we visited with his Uncle Pat & Aunt Louise who we interrupted in the middle
of their busy work day with Advance Car and Limousine Services. We were supposed to meet them
tomorrow, but due to incoming bad weather, we decided to leave 2 days early.

We leave first thing in the morning before another big snow storm hits tomorrow afternoon.
I'll move these Dec items when I work on the website next after arriving in Lillian Alabama.

OhOh............
The snowstorm hit with full force shortly after getting on the road. But the highways were very well travelled. In Indiana, we got on 65 and we will stay on that interstate all the way to Alabama. After several hours of building snow & ice, we decided to pull of into a truck stop for the night. Hopefully, the roads would be clear enough in the morning for an other days' travel. We went in to the restaurant for a warm meal and the trouble started as I was finishing.

I had a violent attack in my gut. For the next 24 hrs, what I thought was "food poisoning" tore at my insides. Intense pain became a constant edge to every minute. After a night of no sleep, we took off on the road again. Little relief came to me that day and finally around 4pm I told Dan we had to find an emergency room as I could no longer stand it. Our GPS found the little town of Seymour, Indiana had the Schneck Medical Center. We pulled off and after spending 30 minutes finding a spot to park the motorhome and walked 3 blocks to the emergency room. Didn't take long for them to discover that I had acute pancreatitis, not food poisoning, after all. Needless to say, I was admitted Friday, Dec 9th.

Yesterday, the 14th was my Mom's birthday and Dan's & my 16th wedding anniversary.
I have a room to myself with a view of the world outside, a wonderful nursing staff
and two good drs.- Dr. Brown & Dr Schultz(below right) looking after me!
They say after the inflamation goes down,
I must have my gall bladder removed in about 6-8 weeks.
It sure doesn't feel like Christmas is 10 days from now.

Friday Dec 16th
I say "Good-bye, Thank you & Happy Holidays" to the Schneck medical staff as we head out of town.

We head to Lillian Alabama where Sherward & Mary await us.

Sunday Dec 18, 2005
Lillian, Alabama
We arrive at the spot we rented for the next 2 months, close to Uncle Sherward & Aunt Mary.
Owen & Beth fly into Pensacola on the 24th and I look forward to a nice, quiet relaxing Christmas.

While I was in the hospital I learned that my dear friend, Inez Elliot lost her 12 year battle with breast cancer.
May her spirit soar and fly free. I miss her deeply.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!
What a wonderful Christmas we had together with Owen, Beth, Mary & Woody.

The day after Christmas, Owen & Beth and Dan & I went for a drive to Orange Beach on the AL Gulf Shores.
Warm weather, beautiful white beaches and lots of shells to gather!

Woody & Mary's Annual Pancake Breakfast

A busy morning for all at the Farnsworth House!
Pancakes & sausages are served from 8am - 10am to friends and neighbors in their Lillian AL community.

After everybody left, Woody & Mary could finally relax...and it didn't take long before he nodded off!

Real Life Wedding Crashers
Did you see Tara & Marc on Good Morning America Friday 12/30/05?
Or read the article written in the Wall Street Journal on Thursday 12/29/05?
They had a couple that "crashed" their wedding in 2001. The couple later invited them to their wedding last June!

Somehow, the news media found out and made a story out if it!
What an exciting New Year's Eve they had in Time's Square.

Happy Holidays & Love to All of You.
Be safe and enjoy this holiday season.

We are working & relaxing here in Lillian until March.
