Quartzsite, AZ
Our first Geo-Caching experience.
Using Linda's hand GPS, we found the hidden cache amongst the desert rocks.
It was filled with all sorts of trinkets people leave, some pretty humorous.
We left a 2005 pocket calendar.

Geocaching is quite popular these days across the US....here's
the link to the site if you're interested.

Thar night we toasted marshmallows by the campfire with Dave & May
and Linda & Bob Stockton

Quartzsite's infamous bookstore.
(When you put your mouse over the photo below, you'll see why!)

Owner Paul, hasn't worn anything but a G-string for the entire 18 years
of ownership!

Dave & May from WA took us 4-Wheelin in thbeir Jeep to a wonderful old
cabin hidden in the hills miles back
in the desert off of Gold Mine Rd. The drive was twisty, full of turns and
bumpy but very beautiful.
They've been coming to the area for 30 years and know lots of it's history
and fun places to see.
We so enjoyed spemding them with them and say "Thank-you" for
being so gracious.

Inside, people who find it leave all sorts of things.......I left the yellow
silk flowers below on the left.

The path to the "One-Holer" with a view!
Our last evening in Quartzsite, we shared a warm fire and good conversation
with friends of Dave & May.

Yuma,
AZ
We had a nice stay in Yuma getting prepared for our return to
San Diego.
It's a comfortable area to be in the winter months. The desert sure has
some gorgeous sunsets.
Here's the
Escapee Park we stayed at with surrounding areas of orange groves &
grazing fields,

Back in San Diego!
Here we are parked at Santee Lakes. A beautiful spot.
It was so wonderful to have Emily & Riley come for a visit
right away.

Feb. 12, 2005
Dan & I went to see Laurel & Devon's first home!
Now they have a piece of the "equity pie" booming here
in San Diego.

Feb. 19, 2005
Happy Birthday Leanne
I spent the day helping Laurel finish packing for the mover's
coming the next day.
Then the girls took Mom out to Red Lobster for a delicious lobster lunch.
(I must say that Dad was in my thoughts all day today, and
he loved going to this restaurant.)

Then Roberta fixed a wonderful roast lamb dinner and we had a
good visit.
I was impressed with Darcy's work, too. He seems to be doing
well going to school in graphics arts.
Pat continues with his art, even inventing a "Plein
Air painter's umbrella"
as well as being sales manager for their new Porcelain Miniature business
venture.
Visit their
Northern Rose website for more info.
They've just had a new line made especially for them in Thailand....(not
on the site, yet) "The Wild Animal series."
Yellowstone Park & other national parks & museums have already
purchased for their stores and love them!

Feb.
21, 2005
It was a rainy
day so Dan & I had a pleasant & beautiful drive out to Borrego
Springs to look
at some desert property. We
must have seen 5 different rainbows while there!

Emily &
I enjoyed our Jack in the Box Taste Test at their Innovation Center here
in San Diego!
It was a fund-raiser for Jacob's Christian School. Over 100 relatives
& friends went to try
3 huge burgers (we did not eat all of them). Each in our own cubicle,
no talking aloud, we tried one at a time.
Then we keyed in our opinions on a cumputer before moving on to the next
huge burger.
I hadn't seen Yale's office at the mortgage
co., yet, and it was just was just down the street innovation center so
we stopped in for a quick visit and photo. (There's NaNa with that camera
again!)

 |
Jacob
finally got to see NaNa when we picked him up from school later that afternoon.
Relaxing & reading a story at home.

My
bags are packed
and I'm ready to go!
I await a call from Tara saying
she's in labor so I can fly up to Oakland
to be with them for the birth of our new
grand-daughter. I'll stay for 2 weeks to
help them adjust. |
For now.........
We're hard at work on one of our rental properties and I'm
busy creating
a website for our kin in North Dakota. The "Spickler
Ranch" website will be up soon!
Thanks for visiting. I hope you enjoyseeing our travels.
