Woody & Mary came over for a Chicken Florentine dinner.
Then Mary & I went to play Bingo at the RV Clubhouse. We both
won!

This
is where I go for "Swim-Aerobics".
Nice & warm no matter what the weather..

We went for a leisurely drive along the Gulf Shores to take a look
at how Katrina affected the surrounding area.
What a path of destruction.....and this is months after the event.
|

The sign above is right before the bridge you see below. Closed
to traffic, obviously.
Whole blocks of homes & businesses were "wiped-out".
Even the Walmart was gutted. It was windy & chilly and there
were no picnic areas open so....
We had our picnic lunch in the car in the Walmart parking lot!

The
"real adventure" began on our return
drive home.
Just
outside New Orleans, after noticing the engine light on,
Woody pulled in for some gas & an "under the hood"
check. Discovering a broken fan belt,
we changed our plans to stop for dinner and headed straight home
( a 4 hr drive).
Within an hour, darkness set in and the drive became quite nerve-wracking
as we couldn't
turn on the lights! Amazingly, Woody did incredibly
well driving with only the parking lights on!
I was impressed and very thankful that our adventure turned out
safely.
We made it as far as Robertsdale, AL, about 45 miles from home.
Luckily, we had our cell phones and he remembered his neighbor's
phone number.
Jim soon came to pick us up and the car was pushed well off the
road for the night.
On Sunday, Dan & Woody went back, stopped and picked up a
new belt, changed it,
recharged the battery and drove it home. The car is working fine
now!

2nd Annual Spanish Cove Tea Time
We were greeted by an impressive Scotsman and
the girls giving us our name tags & raffle tickets.

Wonderful chamber music by locals was played
throughout
& resident poet, Jim Heitter, charmed us
with his poetry.

Mimosas, assorted teas and delicious delicate
tea sandwiches & desserts were served.
The tea towel I won...and the activity director
calls out the winner of the "Hat Raffle".
And the winner is.....

Delicious "Russian Tea" was highlighted
on the tables.
Hats of all kinds, pretty teacups of every shape & pattern
and women chatting everywhere enjoyed the fun!

Thank
You, Mary, for sharing the Spanish Cove Tea Time with me.
(And for loaning me one of your pretty hats to
wear!)
HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!

Baby Handley is growing and growing.......

Pensacola, FL "Mardi Gras" Parade
We
had lots of fun & got soaked watching the parade. Quite a
bit tamer than the New Orleans version.
Just as the parade started, the rains poured down, but it didn't
stop the crowd from screaming
for beads, moon pies, candy and other trinkets tossed out by the
floats.

Mary was yelling "Moon Pie, Moon Pie"
all throughout the parade!

It takes all kinds of people to make a festive
parade!

I was happy to see the "Healthy Teeth"
float tossing out new toothbrushes.
Some people had no necks left with all the beads
collected.
