The Nomadic Neuman's
July 2007
The neighbors have children and they invited Lily over on several occasions to play.
Football, baseball, hide-n-seek, movies, all that fun stuff Good exercise for Lily..

Looking at the canal algae, they think it's gross!  She even got to go on a raft ride with them.
Lily with Rubin in the raft and Dawson & Dobson in their little play boats trailing behind.

Monday July 2, 2007
True to an average 9 yr old, Lily gets bored immediately if she's not doing something all the time!
But, NaNa's gotten her a whole plastic tub filled w/ things to do. She'll just have to find something there.
Grandpa & NaNa are busy with projects on the new house
.

Later on, we did go to the beach again, but Lily didn't find any friends to play with.
Then it got cold quickly and started to rain.
So we came home, made some dinner, enjoyed a movie and
before bed, NaNa read another chapter in her library book, "The Secret Box".

Friday July 6, 2007
Lily & NaNa are headed to Coeur d'Alene, ID to visit the Fowler famly for 2 weeks.
Before we left Ocean Shores, we stopped at the library to get some books on CD.
That is a great thing to do when you have a long 8 hr. drive ahead. We listened to:
"The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane."
and    "Harriet the Spy"

Aftere an hour's drive, we stopped to see Snoqualmie Falls. How beautiful the 270 foot waterfall is.
Lily wanted to hike down the trail so we did!  Good exercise for both of us and well worth the hike back uphill.

There's an electric plant at the bottom which had a fenced walkway around it leading to another observation deck.
In 1889, the town of Snoqualmie was platted by Charles Baker, a civil engineer. He also constructed an underground power plant at the falls in the 1890s (those original generators are still functioning today).

We were surprised to see snow still in the mountains!

The scenic Columbia River viewed from the Wild Horse Monument.

We stopped to see the Wild Horses Monument. It's a piece of roadside art along I-90 in the deserts
of Central Washington on a bluff above the East side of the Columbia River.
The monument pays tribute to the wild mustangs who roamed these areas in days past.

Lily also kept busy making art out of her lunch left-overs, coloring and then making a pretty flower with clay.

We made it to Coeur d'Alene!
Around 3pm, we arrived at Emily's.......the cousins meet....and immediately begin to play.
The sprinkler cooled them down for a while.

The Fowler's had been visiting in San Diego for 2 weeks prior to our arrival.
Unfortunately, their pool turned green during their absence! Below Emily had started cleaning it.

Riley & Lily must've used about $15 worth of fruit making smoothies.
(There was a lectures on "not wasting food" after that endeavor!) But they did have fun.

Sun. July 8, 2007
We all got ready and headed off to church. Riley & Lily had fun dressing up in pretty clothes & shawls.
The girls get signed in to Kid's Quest while the rest of us attend the service.

After church, we head to the lake again for more fun!

The Bonzai is so much fun and as you can see below, Lily really loves the thrill, they all do!

Monday July 9th
We met the Cates Family at the beach on Coeur d'Alene Lake for another fun "cool-down".

Tuesday July 10th
Lily was drawn to the piano and was quite good at creating beautiful music!
Later Jacob took her across the pond in the canoe to show her his secret fort!

That evening the girls & NaNa took Arrow for a walk into the big field at the end of the street.
We had a chance to pick flowers & visit with the neighbor's horses.

Before settling into bed, the kids put a puzzle together.

Wednesday July 11th
The girls wrote, practiced & put on a play for us about a mother & daughter and the drive to school.

That night while Mom & Dad were out, we watched the movie RV with Robbin Williams.

Thursday July 12th
We took Aroow & went for a hike on the hill and found some great swimming holes.

Had some silly fun, too!

Everyone enjoyed beach combing for treasures. NaNa found a beautiful toe ring.

Friday July 13, 2007
Applying sunscreen wasa daily affair because the pool was always in use!

They swam, morning, noon and night. Remember doing hand-stands as a kid?

A beautiful sunset that night.

Saturday July 14, 2007
Jacob was always down at the pond fishing whenever he had time while Lily gravitated to the piano.

The girls were inside getting a manicure & painted nails.

The spa kept them warm in the evening. Riley lost another tooth so it looks like tonight the tooth fairy will be visiting!

Sunday July 15, 2007
Another great day for a boat ride so off we go after church!
The girls read below deck for part of the ride. Then Lily joins NaNa on the deck.

We ride to Trey's family camp and have fun. Emily gives Lily a cold, wet hug to help her get used to the water temp!

Of course, there's always time to fish!

and to bonzai.....

That evening after dinner, there was a "stare-down" contest......Riley laughed so she was out, then Lily won with Yale!

Monday July 16, 2007
Excitement in the air! We took a trip to the nearby theme park, Silverwood.

Oh boy, did everyone have fun or what!

This was Lily's very first roller coaster ride so Emily took a picture of them before going up. She loved it.

Panic Plunge.       Here's a before, at the top and after picture.

They got a surprise water spray here because NaNa put a quarter in the splash machine!

One end of the park was Boulder Beach. Mid afternoon, everyone enjoyed cooling
down in the wave pool & the many slides and water play areas.

Tuesday July 17, 2007
Nana teaches the girls how to make a sock doll.
They really did a great job and both were proud of the accomplishment.

A little quiet reading time before bed.

Wednesday July 18, 2007
The neighborhood parents had an association meeting so NaNa had a crowd of kids for a chili-dog lunch.

Thursday July 19, 2007

We leave tomorrow to head back to WA
so the girls get a good hair washing and we get to read Lily's novel.

Friday July 20, 2007
After a 5 hr drive, we made it to Ocean SHores and before going to the motorhome,
we stop along the beach to collect some shells & sand dollars.
