The Nomadic Neuman's
October 2006

Apples, apples, apples......
Apple pie, apple cake, apple turnovers. I thought of Dad and his baking all month.
Definitely more apples fell from the tree than I was able to use!
But we have a lot stored for use over the winter months.

After Chuck & I picked all the apples we could reach with a ladder ( a 60 gal container),
Paul came over and climbed the tree for another 2 boxfuls! They're all stored in the garage for the winter.
Dan was on a ladder inside fixing the light.

We went to a land auction! All sorts of people were there and it was an experience, for sure.
We ended up bidding & winning on 2 properties we'd inspected prior to the sale.
One is a waterfront lot along the Grand Canal in Ocean Shores. Beautiful property.
The other property, I'll tell you about later.

Here's the waterfront property right on the Grand Canal prior to land clearing.

The lot was very wooded, filled with willow trees, crab-apples and ass't brush.
Chuck & I explored it with machete in hand!

This is the waterfront of our property taken from the next dock over.
With all the brush, it was too hard to get a photo from our property.

The land clearing began last week so we went to take a look. It's a treat to see the waters edge now.
We've a long way to go but a new project has begun. We plan to build a spec home in the spring.
Chuck will build a dock soon after the land clearing is completed.
This area is growing fast and we hope that we're making a profitable investment. Time will tell!

Chuck has been learning the scroll saw recently. With an associate,
they're building an inventory to sell at some of the local craft shows. Here are a few samples:

I've taken a break from photographing much these past couple of months, as you can probably tell.
Loving thoughts to everyone at the beginning of this 2006 holiday season.
